Field service heavy equipment mechanic: Which would he use more: an impact DRIVER or impact WRENCH?
Christmas shopping for my husband who is a field service heavy equipment mechanic. He mentioned the other day he wishes he had a " cordless impact so he wouldn't have to unwind the air hose all the time" . I made a mental note to get it for him for Christmas, but apparently I should've paid attention to DRIVER vs WRENCH vs DRILL. ? ? Which was he referring to, an impact driver or impact wrench? I am so confused on which he would use more.... Thank you cgi.ebay.com ws eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem& item 260704462297& ssPageName STRK MEWAX IT is this what I'm looking for??

Should i get this 4x2 or look for a 4x4 for moving/picking up heavy equipment?
Im planning to get a truck for my new job. i want a truck so i have a 2nd vehicle, occasstional driving, for work, etc. i have a buddy from school that's selling me his 98' chevy, V8, ext. cab, 8ft bed, 4x2 for 3000, but i would like a 4x4 but i don't want to turn down this offer nor convert it to 4x4 cause that would cost a pretty penny. My main concerns are ice snow, MPG, and strong enough towing compacity i dont think ill be towing a whole lot will i be ok with a 4x2 or is a 4x4 better choice? Also does bigger tires provide me with more weight on the over all truck? Will that provide more traction on ice snow? Sorry as you can see i dont know a whole lot about trucks. Any opinions suggestions would be great thanks for reading D

Apprentice Heavy Equipment Mechanic, any advice, help?
I have recently graduated from college. I took a heavy equipment truck and coach Technician program that lasted 2 years. I have to admit I didnt really have a huge background in this, other than changing oil and greasing machinery.I got a job that lasted about 30 days, guy said I wasnt exprienced enough. Which I thought was obsurd considering I thought an apprenticeship was going to be to learn the trade, but I guess not. I did take longer to do things than the experienced fully qualified mechanics, and didnt know how to do certain things, but isnt an apprentice supposed to learn? Thats what I thought, until he fired me.Can anyone please help me with how I can become a better mechanic. Other than the obvious of tinkering with stuff. Does anyone have any pointers or advice? Help, i seriously do want to be a good mechanic some day, not just one that gets by.I realize the question " how can I become a better mechanic" is pretty general, and maybe a dumb question. But I need advice, help. I dont want to have to go back to school for something else, this is what I want to do.
