Question: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!can i take the class b driving exam in a semi tractor? please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Please help me I want to get a class b cdl to drive a dump truck but I cant find a straight truck or a dump truck to do my test. I know various people including my dad that have semi tractors and I was wondering if I could take the test in that. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Suggestion go ahead and take the test for the cdl 'a' and that way when you take the pti (road test) you can drive anything

NO. You must take the driving course in the same type of vehicle as the license you are seeking. A semi tractor is a Class A vehicle, and if you drive that, you'll need to tow a trailer and go for a Class A license. If you can do the backing and parking for a class A license, then go for that. You can drive class B with a class A license.
